FILTER

As the use of Television increased so did the horror of TVI (Television Interference) for many radio amateurs - few indeed of whom were not forced to construct filters of both the high pass and low pass variety in order to continue their hobby unmolested by the nearby viewers! Above is an example of one such, made from readily available materials by the late Stan Horsley (SWL of Melton Mowbray) and typical of the "expertise" and "state of the art" of the day. The container cum chassis source is obvious, add a length of wire to and around a ferrite ring, a Belling-Lee socket and a few internal discrete components and the device is completed.

And below is a "Standing Wave Ratio Meter or SWR Bridge" made by Ken, G3WKM to assist in "curing" cases TVI and to ensure maximum power transfer from the transmitter to the aerial, no mismatch and less likelihood of the dreaded TVI.
